You can jump in and out of the plot, as you want to; this gives you time tothink about your game strategy, and about how you will build your trade and fight ranks.The starting difficulty level affects which upgrades and equipment are installed on your ship(s)and how many Credits you start with. It will also affect your initial reputation with the otherraces. It has no effect on any other aspect of gameplay.
