Theliterary studies in today's universities havegone down so much that neither it getsrelated to necessary ' professionalism' norit gives students a critical thinking, norit produces any novel thinking in students.The highest part of <strong>Hindi</strong> criticism doesnot become part of student's perspective.Again the same attitude works here 'whyshould 1 get into trouble' the result of itis that even today we are faced withdecades’ old questions. The views of criticslike Ram Vilas Sharma have very smallspace, the introductory one only. Whenthe <strong>Hindi</strong> departments of the country don'thave any use of his views how will theybe accepted in history, social studies andlinguistics? These are already overburdenedwith European thoughts. <strong>Hindi</strong>departments are mostly over shadowed bythe shortcuts of feudalistic and Europeanthinking. That is the reason why noperspective could be developed to look atliteratures from the feudalistic, antiimperialisticand anti-casteist approach.We know that Ram Vilas Sharma inhis life had never taken refuge behindshortcuts or make a comment where somewriters were downgraded and others weredeclared great. Is it the way a critic ismade ? A critic starts with a lofty aim andputs down his whole life in searching andfgndi •establishing it. Basically he looks at howparticular communities of a country andultimately the whole humanity there haveexpressed themselves in literature. RamVilas Sharma never cared for immediatecontemporary achievements. He selecteda path of deep devotion and long struggle.His criticism is not management, it haddeep rationality, transparency and integrity.Whatever he said till the end of his life,was always responsible. He saw India withthe eye of Marxism and Marxism fromIndian eyes. Now we have made shortcutsfor being modern, for becoming a loverof tradition and becoming a Marxist, whilethis is not possible without the continualstruggle of society and also without one’sown struggle with self. Marxism is not amatter of research but his creativeexperiment with country's traditions andsolid realities. Marxism has beenappropriated in Ram Vilas Sharma'scriticism not mechanically but creatively.Today we are surrounded by thelanguage of power; even if you say a lieforcefully it will be taken as truth. So themeaning of thought has become adeliberation of power. All thought areconsidered the play of power as if wecannot think that there could be somethoughts outside power deliberation, therecould be oppositions, truths — the truthswhich are often being suppressed by power.The thoughts of criticism presented byRam Vilas Sharma are not the part ofpower play because in such games mostlyApril-June 2013 :: 43
