It ischaired by Mikhail Gorbachev, president <strong>of</strong> Green CrossInternational, and Maurice Strong, president <strong>of</strong> the EarthCouncil. In 2000 it approved the final text <strong>of</strong> the EarthCharter, which has been embraced by the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong>.<strong>The</strong> Earth Charter aims to bring about a <strong>New</strong> <strong>Age</strong>.
