Thus, UNESCO determined to bring peace througheducation. As we will see, this education is based on themind of man rather than the mind of God.The United Nations has no ability to correct the root ofworld turmoil, and that is man’s fallen heart. The LordJesus said:“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evilthoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, anevil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evilthings come from within, and defile the man” (Mark7:21-23).The UN’s symbol is the earth held between two olivebranches of peace. On a wall across the street from theUN headquarters is the quotation from Isaiah 2:4:“They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and theirspears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up swordagainst nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”In the UN garden overlooking the East River is a statueof a man beating a sword into a plowshare. Anotherstatue near the public entrance to the UN depicts ahandgun with its barrel tied in a knot, signifying nonviolence.28
