Policy 9005Page 2 of 2<strong>Staff</strong> members shall conduct themselves in a mature, well-balanced, and self-disciplined manner incommunications with patrons who may be upset, angry, or hostile. Intimidations, condescension, insults, orsarcasm toward patrons shall be considered unacceptable staff responses.Students, parents, patrons, or colleagues who have experienced or observed a disregard for these staffconduct expectations should try to discuss the incident with the individual involved first. However, if thisdoes not lead to an acceptable resolution, the specifics of the incident should be reported to the buildingadministrator as soon as possible. If concerns remain unresolved at this level, the Superintendent should becontacted. <strong>Staff</strong> evaluations shall clearly reflect such negative instances, and disciplinary action may result.<strong>Staff</strong>/<strong>Staff</strong> Relations:<strong>Staff</strong> members shall treat other staff members as individuals deserving courtesy and respect. Insults,sarcasm, humiliation, threats of/or use of physical coercion or force to require compliance with a staffmember’s requirements or expectations shall all be considered inappropriate and, in fact, harmfulinteraction with another staff member.ADOPTED: November 11, 1997AMENDED: August 20, 1998
