Research laboratories around the world areexperimenting for years with this unique technology.Since 2012, Acoustic Vector Sensors are used by theDutch Armed Forces for localising Rockets, Artillery,Mortars (RAM) and Small Arms Fire (SAF) positions. The Evaluation Artillery kit offers Launch (81mm) an easy opportunity to getTime: 14:02:56acquainted with Microflowns worldwide unique AcousticVector Sensor technology. The extremely small andlight-weight Acoustic Vector Sensors are capable ofdetecting, localising, identifying and tracking soundsources in 2D or 3D. This makes them beneficial for thedefense industry, as (target) source locating sensors, increasing situational awareness. The Microflown sensor is based upon MEMStechnology and uses the temperature difference in theMortar Launchcross section of two extremely sensitiveTime: 13:58:12heated wires todetermine the acoustic particle velocity. Direction andelevation of sound sources are direct outputs of thesensor.Further algorithms and/or additional Acoustic VectorSensors allow determining the sound source Artillery Impact location. (81mm)Time: 14:03:04The unique Acoustic Vector Sensor technology allowsthe localisation of multiple sound sourcessimultaneously. This even is applicable in complexacoustic situations such as urban environments and/ornoisy platforms such as UAVs, helicopters and groundvehicles. The Evaluation kit consists of a Ruggedized Audio DataAcquisition Box (RADAB) which contains a Windowspowered mini PC that allows 48 hrs of recording on itsinternal Solid State Drive. Together with the 2D AcousticMulti-Mission Sensor, the RADAB is designed foroutdoor use. It is further compatible with a 3D AcousticVector Sensor which is optionally available anddesigned for indoor use. The provided softwarepackage enables the user to record and process theaudio files. Optionally, Matlab can be used for real-timedata processing. The RADAB can be remotely accessed and operatedthrough an on-board WIFI module. To cover longerranges for operating the RADAB remotely, an externalantenna connection is optional available. An exemplary audio dataset is provided to demonstratethe functionality of the unique Acoustic Vector Sensortechnology and its data output.www.microflown-avisa.com
