COLD PANEL CURVINGThis document is intended to provide general recommendations only. Trespa provides these guidelines and all testing, codeand design data for informational purposes only and strongly advises that the customer, project owner and architect seekindependent advice from a certified construction professional and/or engineer regarding application and installation as wellas compliance with design requirements, applicable codes, laws and regulations, and test standards. Please check your localcodes and applicable design requirements for proper use.“Cold panel curving” to form radius panels is not covered by the certificates or test reports available for Trespa® Meteon® panels. If Trespa® Meteon® panels are fixed mechanically to create a convex curved panel (radius) application, the fixings are stressedin a different way than a “flat” panel. This method of installation is beyond the scope of any certificate or test report.Trespa® Meteon® panels with a thickness of 6 mm (≈ 1/4 in) and 8 mm (≈ 5/16 in) may be mechanically fixed to a convexcurve on a suitable sub-frame. Depending on the thickness of the panel, a minimum panel radius and length to widthrelation is required (see Table).Panel thickness Minimum panel radius Minimum length Length to width relationmm in m in mm in6 ≈ 1/4 2 ≈ 79 1200 ≈ 47 1:28 ≈ 5/16 4 ≈ 157 1800 ≈ 71 1:2In order to ensure proper installation and application of curved structures, special requirements must be placed on thesub-frame and the fixing.Sub-frameAs much as possible the sub-frame structure has to support the panel over its full length. In order to achieve a smooth curved shape, it might be necessary to reduce the distances of the sub-frame construction.Quality and treatment of the sub-frame must be in accordance with applicable building standards, regulations, certificatesand should be calculated with great care by an architect or other construction professional.FixingInstallation of Trespa® Meteon® panels on a curved sub-frame must be done using visible mechanical fixings. The distance between fixings (e.g. rivets or screws) of the fixing system chosen should be reduced by as much as 25%.Proper engineering design should be conducted to determine this revised fixing spacing. The edge clearance of the fixingsnear the two straight edges at the end of the panel must be 20 mm (≈ 3/4 in).1Please check www.trespa.info for the latest version of this document
