: performance :GenerationThe Generation activity includes the managementof hydroelectric power stations (UHE), smallhydro power stations (PCH) and the coalthermoelectric plant of Porto Pecém I, totalling itsinstalled capacity 1,974MW on December 2012.During 2012 occurred the repowering of theUHE Mascarenhas which increased its installedcapacity by 4.5MW and, the entering intooperations of the first group of the Porto PécemI thermoelectric plant, which has an installedcapacity of 360MW (in which <strong>EDP</strong> Brasil has a50% stake).In 2013 the second group of Porto Pecém Ithermoelectric plant (360MW) will enter intooperation, which is located in the State of Cearáand has a total installed capacity of 720MW, inwhich <strong>EDP</strong> Brasil has a 50% stake.The UHE Santo Antônio do Jari is currently underconstruction between the states of Pará andAmapá and it will have a total installed capacity of373MW, which corresponds to an average energysold of 218MW and it is foreseen to enter intooperation in January 2015.In 2012 the project UHE Cachoeira Caldeirãoin the state of Amapá was purchased, whichhas 219MW of installed capacity and an averageenergy sold of 125MW. The entry into operationshall occur on January 2017.DistributionIn the Distribution, <strong>EDP</strong> Brasil has the full controlof Bandeirante and Escelsa, serving about 2.93millions of customers, distributing 24.9TWh in2012.Bandeirante distributed 14.8TWh in 2012, 0.5%higher than in 2011. The electricity distributed toend customers summed 9.4TWh, representing anincrease of 1.4% over 2011. The company finishedthe year with 1.6 million customers, 3.6% morethan 2011. During 2012, the energy distributed byBandeirante’s system to the liberalised marketand traders totalled the amount of 5.3TWh, whichrepresents a reduction of 1.2% compared to 2011.Escelsa distributed in 2012 10.1 TWh, a 3.2%increase compared to 2011. The number ofcustomers reached 1.3 million, 3.6% above theprevious year. In the regulated market, Escelsasold 6.2TWh, an increase of 6.1% over 2011.For the liberalised market, Escelsa distributed4.0TWh, representing a reduction of 1.1% over2011.SupplyIn the Supply of electricity segment, <strong>EDP</strong> Brasil,operating under Enertrade, sold in 2012 11.1TWh tocustomers in the liberalised market, with an 8.2%market share.56A World Full Of Energy
