: annexes :<strong>EDP</strong>’s material issues were identified throughthe Accountability’s methodology which ensuresa clear and balanced assessment of the data,either collected internally to identify businesspriorities, or through the channels used forstakeholder’s engagement. The priorities are setby weighing: 1) the number of times the issueis raised through the different channels;2) a benchmark studying a set of material issueshighlighted by peers; 3) additional studies whichidentified relevant tendencies under <strong>EDP</strong>’s sectorcontext. The results achieved supported thepreparation of this <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong>, as reflectedin the Company’s management strategy and,in particular, in its agenda for sustainability.The most relevant issues are covered bythis report, and when possible, highlightswere included to facilitate the access to theinformation.º º Supply chain empowerment, this change isexplained by the European social and economicsituation. The issue is disclosed in Performancesection, Suppliers chapter;º º Free Market, with a strong relevance to thePortuguese market, due to the liberalizationprocess occurred in 2012;º º Local Development, replacing the older “newhydropower projects” issue, due to the impactthese projects have locally and the expectationsthat communities have, hoping from theseinvestments new opportunities for localdevelopment;º º Security of facilities, an issue raised mainly bylocal communities and started being consideredby our peers. Essential for the company, this an issueraised mainly by investors and rating agencies,looking forward to understand the strategicposition and how the company is committedto reach it;º º Human Rights, comes up individualized forthe first time.
