A Message from the PresidentDr. Tony AretzWelcome to the College of Mount St. Joseph, home ofthe Mount <strong>Lions</strong>. Our student-athletes work hard andlove the sports they play, and are always backed bysupportive faculty, coaches and staff who are committedto helping them achieve success.This year the Mount pays homage to the roots of ourathletics program with the establishment of the AthleticHall of Fame. The first inductees are considered cornerstones of Mountathletics: Kay Corcoran, T. Jean Dowell and Pat Shibinski. These womenhelped blaze the trail for the excellent athletic programs we offerstudent-athletes today.I hope you enjoy your experience at the Mount and the excitement ofcompetitive athletics at the college level. Our goal is nothing short ofdeveloping a nationally competitive NCAA Division III athletic programfor our students and the community.God bless,Meet the Director of <strong>Athletics</strong>Steve RadcliffeSteve Radcliffe enters his 16th year as the <strong>Lions</strong>’athletics director for the 2009-2010 school year, andhe looks forward to another outstanding season ofathletics at the Mount.Radcliffe, who oversees 22 athletic programs at theMount, has long been a part of the sports programs atthe College. Radcliffe began his career at the Mount in1986 as an athletic trainer and was hired to implement the Mount’s firstacademic program for athletic training in 1989. In addition to teachingathletic training, he was the <strong>Lions</strong>’ head athletic trainer for all theintercollegiate sports at the College.Radcliffe became the Mount’s athletic director in 1995. Upon enteringthe position, he stressed the importance of upholding the College’s stellarreputation of academics and athletics as a positive influence in studentlife and development at the Mount. Radcliffe received his bachelor’s degreein 1978 the University of Montana and his master’s degree in physicaleducation in 1981 from Miami University (Ohio),Steve and his wife, Darlene, have two children, Victoria and Michael.The Radcliffes live in Delhi.Tony Aretz, Ph.D.PresidentHeartland Collegiate Athletic ConferenceThe Mount is a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC)and is also a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)Division III.
