Assistant Coach Gil VoigtGil Voigt begins his 13th season as an assistant coachat the Mount. He graduated from Ohio University in1975 where he earned his bachelor’s degree in radio-TVcommunications. Voigt earned his master’s degree inbiology from UNC-Charlotte in 1990.Coach Voigt started his coaching career at highschools in Charlotte and Wilmington, North Carolina. He coached at LaneyHigh School in Wilmington, North Carolina, where a few years before hebegan coaching, Michael Jordan had graduated. He then moved to Floridawhere he was head coach of St. Andrew’s Methodist in Brandon, Florida.He has been an assistant at Oak Hills High School (1994-1998), and hascoached many teams in AAU programs offered to basketball players in thesummer. He was also a television sportscaster for WECT-TV and WWAY-TV inWilmington, North Carolina, for nine years.Coach Voigt worked as the assistant publicity director, in spring training,for the Cincinnati Reds, 1991-1993. He currently produces TV statistics formany major league baseball teams that come to Great American Ballpark.Coach Voigt has also been a licensed football, basketball and baseballofficial since 1974, and is currently employed by the Fairfield City SchoolDistrict as a science teacher. In addition, Voigt is the head junior varsityand varsity assistant baseball coach at Madeira High School.Coach Voigt resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.Assistant Coach Rodney MorganRodney Morgan begins his sixth season on the Mount’sstaff. He also has coaching experience at LawrenceburgCommunity Schools, coached football, basketball andtrack & field for 15 years.Coach Morgan and his wife, Donna, have threedaughters; two graduated from Franklin College andanother is a senior at Saint Mary’s College.He and his wife reside in Greendale, Indiana.Assistant Coach Rodrick PierceRodrick Pierce is back this winter for his second seasonafter a two-year layoff as an assistant coach. He isa former two-sport athlete at the Mount, playing ayear of both football and basketball. He is a graduateof Princeton High School and is completing hisundergraduate degree in secondary education. CoachPierce has helped coach several area AAU teams and also has coached inboth Cincinnati Public Schools and Princeton City Schools.Pierce, who works for Lakota Local Schools as a special education aide,resides in Fairfield, Ohio, with his wife, Kim, and their children: Kaeja,Kamryn and Jasmine.Assistant Coach Alan StukerAlan Stuker returns again this winter for his secondstraight season, after being last on the Mount’scoaching staff for the 2007-08 season. He has alsospent a year working at the Chicago Bulls TrainingAcademy in Lisle, Ill. Stuker is a graduate of The OhioState University where he has a Bachelor of Arts inHistory degree. He was a student assistant coach for the men’s basketballteam while at OSU.While at Ohio State, Stuker worked as a student manager for Ohio State’smen’s basketball team. During his four-year career as a manager he was apart of two Big Ten Championship teams in 2006 and 2007, both coachedby Thad Matta. During 2007, Ohio State made a Final Four appearance andearned a spot in the National Championship game. As a manager, Stukerhelped Assistant Coach Alan Major with the training of post players duringpractice which included 2006 Big Ten Player of the Year Terence Dials and2007 First Team All-American and number one overall NBA draft pick GregOden.In addition, Stuker was a three-sport program equipment manager whilein high school at McNicholas High School. Stuker is a substitute teacher forthe Archdiocese of Cincinnati. He resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.Student Assistant Coach Jacob HazelJacob Hazel returns to the <strong>Lions</strong>’ staff for his secondseason as a student assistant coach. Hazel has coached7th-8th grade boys’ basketball at St. Andrew Academyin Louisville, Ky, for the past three years. He graduatedfrom St. Polycarp grade school and Holy Cross HighSchool in Louisville, Ky. While at Holy Cross, Hazelplayed basketball, baseball, football, and soccer. He played the past twoseasons for the Mount’s football team and plans to major in education andminor in sports management. He looks forward to teaching history andcoaching upon graduation.Student Assistant Coach Nick SosbyNick Sosby returns to the <strong>Lions</strong>’ staff for his secondseason as a student assistant coach. Sosby, a senior atthe Mount, is majoring in History.Student Assistant Coach Dan CallahanDan Callahan joins the <strong>Lions</strong>’ staff for his first seasonas a student assistant coach. Callahan, a graduateof Colerain High School, has been a girls’ basketballteam manager in high school, a team manager for theNorthern Kentucky University men’s basketball team, anda Lebanon High School student assistant camp counselorat Denison University in the summer.
