pyrojacketinsulating sleeving AND ribbonPyrojacket ® is a high-bulkglass fiber woven to producea hollow sleeve or ribbon. It is coated with a hightemperaturesilicone rubberand will withstand continuousexposure up to 260°C;up to 1090°C for 15–20minutes; and up to 1650°Cfor 15–30 seconds. Pyrojacketsleeving slips on easily andexpands over fittings andconnectors. Pyrojacket ribboncan be wrapped on withoutdisconnecting fittings. Each product is end-fixed in place with Pyrosil adhesive tape.AVAILABILITYPyrosil Tape: 11 m rolls x 25 mm wide tapeRibbon: 25, 50 and 75 mm widthsSleeve: 6–127 mm diameterSupplied in coils or cut to length as requiredAlso available with VELCRO ® closure optionAPPLICATIONS• Protective covering for cables, ropes andhoses• Sheath for bundling of multiple wires• Insulation covering to prevent heat lossfrom hot metal hoses and pipingADVANTAGES• Withstands intermittent flame• Sheds molten spatter of metals and glass• Resistant to slag and resin buildup• Protects against abrasion, solvents andcorrosive chemicals• Protects operators against scorchingcontacts of metal hoses and pipes• Provides "Danger Red" warning• No harmful by-products of combustion• Easily installedDielectric BreakdownInside DiameterVoltage9.5 mm 5–8 kV1.9 mm 5 kV38.1 mm 7–10 kV50.8 mm 7–8 kV88.9 mm 9–10 kVTest results provided by Lineman’s Testing Laboratories of Canada Ltd.Samples were placed over a grounded electrode and high voltage wasapplied to the surface at a controlled rate of 1 kV per second untildielectric breakdown occurred.

PyrojacketRecommended UsesSteel MillsAluminium SmeltingHeavy Steel FabricationHot Hoses and PipesRadiant HeatIntermittent FlameFire Hazard AreasAbrasion ProtectionReduced Heat LossPyrojacket is commonly used in the steel industry among integrated producers, specialty steelproducers and minimills. Applications include continuous strand casting and slab scarfingequipment. Also, hydraulic and cooling water lines in furnace areas require Pyrojacketprotection. Melt shop equipment can also utilise Pyrojacket for molten splash protection.Nonferrous smelting mills use Pyrojacket to protect hose, cable and wire rope from theeffects of molten aluminium slag and splash. A specially fabricated glass-filled Pyrojacketis used as a crucible seal.Fuel supply lines in flame cutting and gouging operations are affected by molten weldspatter. Pyrojacket can increase the life of oxy-acetylene and mig welding lines, avoidingproduction interruptions.Steam, hot water and hot oil lines can have a "branding" effect on operators. Pyrojacketoffers high-temperature protection for the safety of the operator.Hoses and cables close to furnaces, boilers, engines and exhaust manifolds can benefitfrom Pyrojacket protection. Can be used near burners for heating and annealing glass and metal. Pyrojacket is alsouseful around furnace doors and welding, brazing and flame cutting operations.Pyrojacket can protect hoses and pipe conveying oils, solvents, fuels or other flammableliquids to help prevent them from becoming open lines that feed a fire. Fuel lines on vehicles, ships and locomotives are good examples.Although not its intended purpose, the heavy rubber covering makes Pyrojacket a very goodabrasion resistant material.Thermal insulation on hose and piping means reduced energy costs and better control ofcritical media temperatures.Pyrojacket ® is a registered trademark of ADL Insulflex, Inc.Pyrosil is a trademark of ADL Insulflex, Inc.VELCRO ® is a registered trademark of Velcro Industries B.
