Sakaeli Rock Tombs and Fairy ChimneysThese rock tombs belonging to Roman and Byzantine periods are located on the south slopesof the hill that the village leaned back which is in close proximity to both Orta district andprovincial centre. Only 3 km far from the village is the Gelin Kayası location which offersvisitors attractive sights of fairy chimneys and the rock tombs in the area.İndağı Rock Tombsİndağı Rock Tombs are set on the 47th km of Çankırı-Kastamonu highway, on the east side ofthe hill. In this area there are caves, rock tombs, a place supposed to be a church and cavitiesused for several purposes.Hüyük Underground CityHüyük Underground City is very close to both Orta district and provincial centre. It wasdiscovered and registered in 2005. With the archaeological sanitation operations carried outby Çankırı Muesum, the underground city and the small church were transformed into anarchaeological area in which visitors can easily stroll around.Koca Meşe (Big Oak)Koca Meşe is in Karacaözü village of Yapraklı district. This 400-year old tree is known to beone of the oldest oaks in the world and taken under protection. The girth of this astonishingoak is 14,10m. Boughs of the tree cover a large area and 400 people can rest under theshadow of the tree. In addition, Paşasultan Pine in Orta district, Türbe Pine in Eldivan districtand Dokuzkardeşler Pine in Çerkeş district are registered as monumental trees.Bülbül Pınarı Recreation AreaLocated in the forestland, 5 km south of centre of Eldivan district, Bülbül Pınarı is reached byan asphalt road. In this wide excursion spot, tables, bench seats, fireplaces, fountains, publiclavatories, canteen, rain shelter, observation terrace and tower, car park, playground and a resthouse in bungalow type are available. Besides Bülbül Pınarı, there are also Karadere andSaray lagoons, many picnic and camping areas around the fountain and water springs inEldivan.Kırkpınar PlateauIt is reached by a 10-km asphalt road splitting off west from the 60th km of Çankırı-Kastamonu highway. The plateau is 20 km far from Ilgaz and 70 km from Çankırı. Locatedwithin the borders of Ilgaz, it has an altitude of 1650 m. There is also a lagoon thatencompasses an area of 55.000 m2 in Kırkpınar Plateau. Surrounded by scotch and blackpines, fir trees and meadows, the plateau has a breathtaking scenery, fresh air, easy access andseveral water springs all of which make the area attractive for not only daily visitors but alsofor those who want to join in activities such as trekking, riding, sightseeing, camping,caravanning, photography and mountain trekking.Hazım Dağlı Recreation Area
