100 workers, and a considerable fleet <strong>of</strong> privateautomobiles joins with the church’s 15 minibuses andlarger coaches to collect children. In addition to theclasses that are held at the main church facility, there arebranches in other parts <strong>of</strong> the city. Total afternoonSunday School attendance is around 750.Afternoon Sunday Schools can have several advantagesover a typical Sunday morning bus ministry. One, moretime can be spent with unsaved people in an afternoonsetting. Some time could actually be spent answeringquestions and dealing more thoroughly with them. Two,the church people who work with the evangelisticSunday School do not have to miss the regular teachingand preaching. Third, adult visitors to the Sundaymorning services are not overwhelmed with SundaySchool kids. Fourth, the church kids are not intermingledwith visiting kids, and the regular Sunday School canfocus on the needs <strong>of</strong> more thoroughly discipling churchkids rather than having to try to meet the vastly differentneeds <strong>of</strong> such a varied group <strong>of</strong> young people.Afternoon PreachingSome churches have added an afternoon service to theirSunday meetings. They meet sometime in the morningand go to noon, devoting that time to evangelism andBible teaching, then they eat a meal together, duringwhich they have time to fellowship and to get to knowthe visitors. After the meal, the church congregates for anafternoon service that is more relaxed and that includesmore singing and preaching/teaching.
