THE TYPICAL SOUL-WINNING PROGRAMDOESN’T EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OFANSWERING SINCERE QUESTIONS.This could go under the previous point <strong>of</strong> taking the timeto be thorough and to deal with the sinner carefully, but Iwant to cover it under a separate point because <strong>of</strong> itsimportance.At Bible College I was taught NOT to answer mostquestions during soul-winning situations. I was taught tostay with the verses <strong>of</strong> the “Romans Road” plan and tosay, “That is a good question and we will get back to itlater, but right now I would like to show you…”I believe there is a time for that approach, if the questionwould truly sidetrack the issue and if it is not necessaryto answer it, but I also believe that there are manyquestions that need to be answered before the person canproperly understand the gospel and before he is ready tobe saved.The man that led me to Jesus Christ spent three or fourentire days with me, patiently teaching me the Scripturesand answering the myriad <strong>of</strong> questions and argumentsthat I had, such as whether reincarnation is true or why aman can’t simply follow his heart or why God wouldsend people to Hell who have never heard the gospel orhow Hinduism is different than the Bible way. If he hadput <strong>of</strong>f my questions in the manner in which I was taughtat Bible College, he would not have gotten very far withme. My questions reflected what I believed at the time,and they needed to be answered. The fact that he couldgive me Bible answers for questions I consideredunanswerable impressed me greatly.
