Salvation Bible Basics by Pastor Doug Hammett.Hutson’s booklet consists of six lessons that carefullyand systemically guide the seeker through the truths ofthe gospel. It lacks a clear presentation of repentance, butthis could be added by the teacher. Pastor Hammett’s isstrong on repentance.Homeless LunchesThe following is from Pastor Thomas Bowlin:“We have a Christian school, grades K5-12. EveryChristmas season our high school students bring in(out of their own homes & pocket) enough foodsupplies to makeup say 100 sack lunches. Theythen go into downtown Honolulu and distribute themto the homeless people there, invite them to ourchurch and also witness to them.”Fair MinistryGospel ministries at county fairs can be very effective ifoperated scripturally. The Amazing Grace Missionspecializes in these. They set up a booth offering avariety of gospel pamphlets and attempt to make as manypersonal contacts as possible with those who expressinterest. They invite people to the back part of the boothand present the gospel to them. My wife and I visited oneof these booths in Oklahoma City about 10 years ago andwe were amazed at how many people expressed aninterest in something that was openly evangelistic. Whilewe were standing there, many people stopped to read thetracts and talk with the personal workers. One church in Alaska put up a tent at the local fair andshowed Moody Science films. A banner could be put upadvertising “Free movies, popcorn, and lemonade.”Music can be played to attract people.168
