Trying to Reach every Segment of SocietyJesus commanded His disciples to preach the gospel toevery soul (Mark 16:15), and people tend to congregatetogether into various “groups” in a society. There are oldpeople and young, rich and poor, educated anduneducated, drunkards and druggies and homeless,farmers, businessmen, housewives and career women,single young people, newly married, students, gangmembers, artists, philosophers, witches, homosexuals,Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, New Agers, youname it.Each church should try to figure out how to get thegospel to every individual in the community and beyondas far as possible by God’s enablement. Going house tohouse to meet people who answer the door is good andnecessary, but that is only the beginning, because thatalone doesn’t present the gospel to every person.I read of a young man who was saved out of a druggielifestyle and started a Bible study on Wednesdaymornings at 3am in a supermarket parking lot. Thereason is that while working late shifts as a securityguard he met people who were interested in Christ butsince they worked at night and slept in the day theycouldn’t attend regular church services. He didn’t justinvite these people to church and wait in vain for them tocome; he took church to them!That’s a great idea. That’s thinking outside of the box.That’s being wise in evangelism.152
