to learn to cook delicious meals and desserts,because we <strong>of</strong>ten have neighbors or visitors to ourchurch over for dinner. Our boys have learned toreach out <strong>of</strong> themselves and to value the knowledge<strong>of</strong> the Scriptures as they and my husband deal withthe many questions brought up by the lost visiting inour homes. Our children are active in SundaySchool teaching and all but one has had the joy <strong>of</strong>leading at least one child to Christ through this. Two<strong>of</strong> our boys have been asked to preach not only atour church but in others as well. (I attribute this, inpart, to my husband encouraging them to memorizeat least one <strong>of</strong> Spurgeon’s sermons each year.)Three <strong>of</strong> our children play instruments and thesetalents are sometimes used in our outreaches.We’ve tried not to ‘show <strong>of</strong>f’ our children to others,but to keep it in the context <strong>of</strong> glorifying the Lord.I might add that both my husband and I fear that theInternet has even more potential for evil than the TV.Thus we’ve adopted a code <strong>of</strong> ethics for Internet useat our home. First <strong>of</strong> all, the Internet cannot beopened without a password. Our password consists<strong>of</strong> eight letters, four <strong>of</strong> which are known only to myhusband and four only to me. Therefore, neither Inor my husband nor anyone else can open theInternet by himself. Our computer is in plain sight inthe living room, so anyone using it can be heldaccountable at any time by others. We have foundwe seldom take time for Internet, though sometimesit has proven very useful. We call missionariesthrough Skype, as well as far <strong>of</strong>f relatives and I haveeven won a cousin to the Lord by repeatedconversations through Skype. We limit our use <strong>of</strong> theInternet to ‘necessary information’ and have goodfilters installed to prevent accidentally viewingsomething evil.We have decided as a family not to spend time atthe TV and little at the Internet, but rather in Bibletraining, Bible memorizing, prayer and fasting, andgospel outreach. We could spend our eveningsplaying games but seldom do unless with aneighboring family or individual as an outreach.However, I doubt any family can match thewonderful times we have together in the above132
