FILMS IN COMPETITIONThe festival will culminate with an Awards Night on 27 July, at which awards will beannounced <strong>for</strong> Competition Features in the following categories, all awarded bythe International Jury: Best Feature Film, Best First Feature Film, Best Direction, BestCinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress. The award <strong>for</strong> Best Film carriesa cash prize <strong>of</strong> R50,000. Cash awards <strong>of</strong> R25,000 and R20,000 are also awarded to the winners<strong>of</strong> the Best South African Feature Film and Best First Feature Film categories respectively.Further awards are adjudicated in the following categories: Best Documentary, Best SouthAfrican Documentary, Best Short Film, Best South African Short Film, and Audience ChoiceBest Films.Additional awards include the Amnesty International Durban Human Rights Award, <strong>for</strong>a film that best reflects human rights issues.30 34th Durban International Film Festival
