Standards for female and male Sterilization services 69Post-operative Instructions1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10.Please come for follow-up:a)b)c)d)After 48 hours for a check-upOn the 7 th day for stitch removalAfter one month or after first menstrual period, whichever is earlierIn an emergency as and when requiredMedication as prescribed:Return home and rest for the remainder of the day.Resume only light work after 48 hours and gradually return to full activity in two weeksfollowing surgery.Resume a normal diet as soon as possible.Keep the incision area clean and dry. Do not disturb or open the dressing.Bathe after 24 hours following the surgery. If the dressing becomes wet, it should bechanged so that the incision area is kept dry until the stitches are removed.In the case of interval sterilization, the client may have intercourse one week after surgery,or whenever she feels comfortable.Report to the doctor or clinic if there is excessive pain, fainting, fever, bleeding or pusdischarge from the incision, or if the client has not passed urine, not passed flatus, andexperiences bloating of the abdomen.Contact health personnel or a doctor in case of any doubt.11. Return to the clinic if there is any missed period/suspected pregnancy.
