<strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong>_CO 2 ANALYSERSimple and easy to useOperationBefore each <strong>measurement</strong> cycle theTC sensor is automatically flushedwith ambient dried air supplied by theintegrated pump and condenser. Aftereach purge, the gas to be measureddiffuses from the liquid sample throughthe membrane, changing the thermalconductivity of the gas surroundingthe detector. It is the rate of changeof the thermal conductivity thatallows the concentration of the gasto be calculated. As each gas hasits own specific thermal conductivitythe <strong>measurement</strong> is not affected bythe presence of other gases unliketraditional total pressure/temperaturemethods.The flow chamber of the <strong>ORBISPHERE</strong><strong>3658</strong> allows the sample to flow overthe sensor membrane. At the sametime the ambient air is dried with acondenser and used periodically toflush the TC detector both in standard<strong>measurement</strong> mode and in standbymode.The simple layout of the instrumentface and the inclined key boardmake the <strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong> simpleand easy to use, both at line andin the laboratory. Different gas andtemperature units can be configureddepending on the application or localstandards.The chassis is made from stainlesssteel making it strong and robust,critical features for an instrumentused in harsh plant environments. It iswaterproof and corrosion protected.The large handle makes the instrumenteasy to manage even when theuser wears gloves. The robustmanufacturing allows the instrument tobe hung from process pipes for longterm diagnostic work.The <strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong> inlet tube canbe connected to a sample point or to apiercing device by a simple connector,making it quick and easy to install. Theoutlet tube of the instrument allowsthe sample to be drained away. Real time monitoringMaintenance, calibration andvalidationNo moving parts in the sensor resultsin low maintenance, typically requiringa simple sensor membrane changeannually. In a standard application it isrecommended that the instrument becalibrated once a year.To directly mimic operating conditionsa liquid calibration can be performedwith the patented High PrecisionCalibration Kit. These kits may alsobe used for periodic validation of the<strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong>.The High Precision Calibration Kitoffers:- Traceable and accurate calibration- Safe, quick and easy solutionpreparation.High and low level kits are availableto ensure accuracy in the appropriate<strong>measurement</strong> range.The <strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong> can be easilywiped down and the sample pathsimply cleaned by flushing the flowchamber with warm water.Communication and datamanagementThe <strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong> display islarge, easy to read and can be lit upby pressing the light button on thekey board. No conversion tables areneeded as this instrument directlyindicates the gas concentration in thechosen unit. The temperature of thesample is displayed by pressing one ofthe keyboard buttons.The <strong>ORBISPHERE</strong> <strong>3658</strong> uses twostandard and rechargeable C type,NiMH or alkaline batteries. When it istime to change the batteries, a “LowBattery” message is shown on thedisplay.The change is quick and easy to do bysimply unscrewing the compartmentlid; there is no down time for theinstrument. Stored <strong>measurement</strong>s inthe instrument memory are not lost ifbatteries go flat or are being changed.Each instrument comes with aWindows ® software package, thatenables a user to analyse the stored<strong>measurement</strong>s and to configure theinstrument.Using the RS232 connection,stored <strong>measurement</strong>s can be simplydownloaded onto a PC for analysis.This connection can also be used tosupply a DC power supply using anoptional AC/DC transformer.
