<strong>Student</strong> <strong>Events</strong> <strong>Standing</strong> <strong>Committee</strong>Executive Officer’s BriefReport of the Vice President <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Events</strong>Wednesday, January 30 th 2013Arts° Reverieo It’s definitely not your typical art showcase.• To support the craft of student and community artists• To ensure art becomes an element of the student culture and UCCenvironment• To provide an environment supportive of artistic expression oncampus• To provide a unique opportunity for student and community artiststo present their artistic expressions to the campus community• To provide a forum for student-artist interaction through facilitateddialogue and demonstrationo The showcase launch is looking like it will be a $5.00 ticketed event – staytuned for promo!Orientation Week° Orientation Governance Boardo OGB has concluded its review of the undergraduate requirementsdetermining if an undergraduate student is eligible to serve as a soph in theOrientation Program. The focus of the discussion was surrounding theeligibility requirements of sophs representing faculties.o OGB decided that faculty sophs must be majoring or specializing in theprogram they are representing, as faculty sophs are required to assist firstyear students in accessing the academic resources of that particular faculty– as opposed to a second entry programo Huge thank you to the students, faculty and administrators who investedhours into this decision.o We will continue to explore how Ivey can be included in the program inall/any capacities.° First Year <strong>Student</strong> Feedbacko The survey is being analyzed by Warren Cracknell, my Commissioner At-Large, and Jarrett McCourt, Off-Campus Head soph and chair of theProgram Assessment Working Groupo We received 1206 valid responses and will be drawing for IPads latertoday.° Throwbacko Huge thank you to all the staff who assisted with Soph Throwback Pub onFriday.


o We had unbelievable turnout and the last minute additions were betterthan we could have expected.° Orientation Coordinatoro Kelly Hobson is our new Orientation Coordinator. She and her team are inthe process of Residence Head Soph Interviews today and will be makingdecisions tomorrow.o This year’s Residence Orientation Coordinator is Zachary Hawley and thisyear’s Academic Orientation Coordinator (the new faculty liaison), KellySlighto Kelly has selected her Orientation Staff. Huge congratulations to them!• Ian Stock• Jacqueline Dron• Eric Moryoussef• Samuel Kilgour• Katrina LatClubs Community° Clubs Governance <strong>Committee</strong> (CGC)o CGC has met since the Holidays and will begin review new clubapplications this week.° Clubs Policy and Procedureso The amended Clubs Policy was approved by Council and Club Procedureswill be going to CGC in two weeks.° Lockerso Club lockers have been installed!o We have over 90 lockers. Extra lockers were delivered at no cost to the<strong>USC</strong>.o Lockers will be assigned to clubs based on first come, first serve and bynecessityo Still looking into increasing storage for clubs on campus. Over 100 clubswill not be given lockers.° Clubs Handbooko Looking at implementing a Clubs Handbook to better train our ClubExecutives and supply them with easier access to clubs and programmingresources.o We’re looking to release it mid to late FebruaryTheatre Western° Purple Shortso February 13 th and 14 th Wet/Dry in the Waveo Tickets will go on sale next week° Beat Dish Awardso Jerome, The Historical Spectacle was nominated for two awards° the Beatnik Award for a Comedy or Drama° Ali Greene nominated for Best Stage Manager in a Comedy orDrama
