Please note that a 400-level coursepreviously taken for undergraduate credit may notbe repeated for graduate credit. A maximum of ninegraduate credit hours toward the 33 required for theMBA degree may be transferred from accreditedgraduate programs with the approval of the MBAprogram director and the department chairpersonof the course for which transfer credit is sought.II. Additional Requirements for the MBA DegreeA. Assessment Portfolio RequirementIn addition to the required coursework, eachstudent must successfully complete the assessmentportfolio requirement. Students must submit tothe MBA Director, at the beginning of the finalsemester of study, a portfolio of work completedfor the various courses taken as MBA Core andMBA Elective courses. Expectations regardingthe contents of the portfolio to be submitted willbe given to students in MGMT 521 early in theprogram. Once submitted, the portfolio will beevaluated, any specific deficiencies identified, andthe student will be given the opportunity to correctthese deficiencies. No student will be clearedfor graduation without completing the portfoliorequirement. The MBA program director willcoordinate the evaluation of the portfolios.B. Performance RequirementsStudents who earn more than six hours ofgraduate credit at <strong>Clarion</strong> with a grade of “C” or earnany credits with grades below “C” and/or fall belowa 3.00/4.00 graduate overall quality‐point average(QPA) are automatically placed on probation.Students whose QPA in the foundation courses fallsbelow a 3.00/4.00 are also placed on probation.Students placed on probation must achievesatisfactory academic standing within one semesterof registration or be removed from the program.Any credits earned with grades below “C” cannotbe used to meet MBA degree requirements.All prerequisite courses for a given course mustbe met before taking that course. BSAD 690 mustbe taken during the last semester of graduate coursework. The maximum time for completion of thedegree program is six calendar years from the dateof the first graduate enrollment.Professional Accountancy Course of StudyStudents pursuing the MBA degree may enroll in theProfessional Accountancy Course of Study. <strong>Clarion</strong><strong>University</strong> undergraduate students may also apply for thiscourse of study, and upon completion will have receivedboth the Bachelor of Science in Business Administrationand the Master of Business Administration degrees. Onlythose students whose career aspirations require the highestdiscipline in accounting expertise are advised to apply forthis course of study. The sequence of 156 total semesterhours of course work, including 36 sch of graduate coursework, is designed to prepare students for entry into thepractice of professional accountancy as prescribed bythe American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.Entrance into the Professional Accountancy Course ofStudy will normally occur upon admission to the MBAProgram or, for undergraduates, during the student’sjunior year upon formal approval of the Departmentof Accountancy chair. Entrance into this program forundergraduate students does not ensure admission intothe MBA program upon completion of the bachelor’sdegree.
