<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> of Pennsylvania 7Admission of InternationalStudents<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> is authorized under federal law toenroll nonimmigrant students. The university welcomesinternational students to its campus and has an Officeof International Programs to assist students from othercountries in achieving a successful educational experienceat <strong>Clarion</strong>. International students may write to:Office of International Programs<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> of Pennsylvania840 Wood Street<strong>Clarion</strong>, PA 16214-1232 U.S.A.International students seeking admission to graduatestudy at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> should follow directionsspecified for all students under “Admission and DegreeRequirements.” In addition, the international studentapplicant must satisfy the following requirements:1. Submit his or her application for admission atleast four months before the term in which heor she wishes to begin study at <strong>Clarion</strong>.2. International appllicants must provide evidenceof a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent froman acceptably accredited college or university.International applicants must have their completeacademic records (transcripts, mark sheets,certificates) evaluated by one of the followingprofessional credential evaluating services:World Education Services (WES) (www.wes.org)orEducational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE)(www.ece.org)Applicants should request WES or ECE toforward the evaluation results directly tothe <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>Graduate</strong> AdmissionsOffice.3. A minimum quality-point average of 2.75/4.00scale at the undergraduate level. Some programsrequire a higher undergraduate quality-pointaverage. Please review the program admissionrequirements listed on the “Checklist forCompletion of <strong>Graduate</strong> Application.” Individualsnot meeting the quality-point average requirementof a graduate program may be eligible for regularadmission when the lower quality-point averageis evaluated in terms of supplementary factors,including recommendations, examination scoreson such instruments as the <strong>Graduate</strong> RecordExamination (GRE), <strong>Graduate</strong> ManagementAdmission Test (GMAT), and/or the MillerAnalogies Test (MAT), or achievement ingraduate-level course work. Informationregarding the GRE, GMAT, or MAT maybe obtained from the Division of <strong>Graduate</strong>Studies.4. Demonstrate English language proficiency.Acceptable evidence of proficiency is successfulcompletion of Test of English as a ForeignLanguage (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 550(paper-based test), 213 (computer-based test),or a minimum International English LanguageTesting System (IELTS) score of 7.0. For theprograms in biology, speech language pathology,and communication, TOEFL score of 600 (paperbasedtest), 250 (computer-based test), or IELTSscore of 7.5 is required. Satisfactory completionof a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S.university or college is also acceptable evidenceof English language proficiency. Additionally,speech language pathology requires a score of200 on the Test of Spoken English (TSE). Otherevidence may be approved by the <strong>Graduate</strong>Studies office, such as affirmation of proficiencyby a <strong>Clarion</strong> faculty member, other individual, ororganization known to <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>.5. Furnish evidence of adequate financial supporton the Financial Support Statement form. Theapplicant must provide an official statementfrom an authorized bank certifying that sufficientfunds are available to the student to cover costsof university fees and general living expenses forone academic year of study in the United States.Immigration form I-20 will not be issued until theinternational applicant has submitted the required<strong>Graduate</strong> Study at<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>
