<strong>The</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Values</strong> <strong>Network</strong> (<strong>EVN</strong>) <strong>is</strong> a <strong>platform</strong> open for all who believe, that in order tosuccessfully address global challenges, the <strong>European</strong> Union should become a politicalcommunity based both on the will of its citizens and on power of its Member States, whileconsciously rooted in its values and cultural heritage.<strong>The</strong> aim of the <strong>EVN</strong> <strong>is</strong> to create a lively network of <strong>European</strong>s, who want to become activelyengaged in searching for and formulating of alternative solutions to make Europe freer, safer,stronger and more prosperous. <strong>The</strong> <strong>EVN</strong> operates through working-groups on most urgentpolicy questions, workshop-meetings, e-communication, conferences and summeruniversities. <strong>The</strong> outcome of the <strong>EVN</strong> will be publication of policy-papers.Working-group <strong>is</strong>sues for 2007:1. Reform of the EU Institutions, their efficiency and citizens’ engagement2. Enlargement of the EU, its borders and the EU’s neighborhood3. Aging of the <strong>European</strong> population, immigration and effective integration4. Responsibility to futures generations: meeting the economy and environmentalchallenges5. <strong>The</strong> EU as a strong world player<strong>The</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Values</strong> <strong>Network</strong> 2007 runs under the auspices of Mr. Elmar Brok.Some of the guest speakers of the <strong>EVN</strong> 2007:Elmar Brok, MEP, former Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the EPJosef Zieleniec, MEP, former Foreign Affairs Min<strong>is</strong>ter of the Czech RepublicGunnar Hökmark – MEP, Committee on Economic and Monetary AffairsEneko Landaburu, Director-General of the DG External Relations of the <strong>European</strong>Comm<strong>is</strong>sionStéphane Ouaki, Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Comm<strong>is</strong>sioner Vladimír ŠpidlaProgram schedule for 2007:1. Enrolment (12 th of February – 30 th of March 2007): advert<strong>is</strong>ing in 27 EU countries(NGO’s, universities, civil society, public service…), receiving the applications andselecting of approximately 50 participants2. Meeting in Brussels (13 th – 15 th of May 2007): first personal meeting of theparticipants, workshops (working in teams), v<strong>is</strong>iting the EU Institutions, d<strong>is</strong>cussionswith the MEPs and Comm<strong>is</strong>sioners3. 4. Final Conference (11 th – 13 th of June 2007): in Prague, finalizing work in workinggroupsand plenary presentations, presence of experts, academics and politicians5. Summer University (8 th – 13 th of August): in Krakow, to foster contacts between thealumni in order to increase mutual exchange and deepen the knowledge6. Policy-Papers Publication (beginning of October 2007)<strong>The</strong> <strong>EVN</strong> <strong>is</strong> organized by the association <strong>European</strong> <strong>Values</strong> (CZ) and association FutureEurope (PL), with support of individuals from Germany, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary.<strong>The</strong> association <strong>European</strong> <strong>Values</strong> (Evropské hodnoty) <strong>is</strong> a Czech non-governmental nonprofitorganization devoted to active promotion of the <strong>European</strong> values in the <strong>European</strong>society. Our v<strong>is</strong>ion <strong>is</strong> a <strong>European</strong> society aware of the values it <strong>is</strong> based on and a <strong>European</strong>political community able to promote them.Since our foundation in January 2005 we concentrate our activity on educational andanalytical work – we regularly organize public debates called “<strong>European</strong> Club”, an annualinternational conference (in 2006 devoted to “<strong>European</strong> <strong>Values</strong> and Identity for the 21 stCentury”, Brno) and an annual summer school (“From Identity to <strong>European</strong> Integration” inAugust 2006). We see the establ<strong>is</strong>hment of a pan-<strong>European</strong> network of active citizens whowant to work on solutions of today’s Europe as a logical step in our efforts to become anactive factor in the development of a <strong>European</strong> civil society.More information under: www.evropskehodnoty.cz.<strong>The</strong> Future Europe association (Stowarzyszenie Europa Przyszłości) was founded in thebeginning of 2005 in Poland. Our goal <strong>is</strong> a safe, democratic Europe rooted in its values,where the freedom of an individual <strong>is</strong> respected. Our activity focuses on social education andpopularization of <strong>European</strong> identity as a common bas<strong>is</strong> for a <strong>European</strong> Union society and asuccessful integration process. Thanks to the fruitful cooperation with Association for<strong>European</strong> <strong>Values</strong> we have started cycle of debates called “My Europe”.
