To celebrate, he invites hisstar attorney László Teleki and his wife Márta on a bear-hunting weekend in Transylvania. The attorney is unenthusiastic– he despises Révi – but he sees the trip as an opportunity to heal the rift with his increasingly coldwife. Signs emerge that his wife and István are having an affair, and that the businessman is less than popularwith the locals, whom he is mercilessly exploiting. László’s suspicion grows: Maybe he is not the hunter, but thehunted. As they disappear into the forest, the only question is who will return alive.DIRECTORS’ STATEMENTWeekend is a thriller that begins as an intriguing love-triangle but ends in a fast-paced chase through the picturesqueforests of Transylvania. The film will explore a number of issues typical of Eastern Europe, includingcorruption, violence and exploitation of the region’s natural resources. Tensions run high among the characters.The gangster must learn to lose. The lawyer becomes the defenseless victim. The wife is challenged to chooselife or marriage. And the peaceful villagers must take up arms to defend their rights. To heighten the drama, wewill use classical framing combined with dynamic camera movements and fast cuts. Yet, instead of recreatingthe authenticity of a documentary, we will create a mysterious and disturbing imaginary world.
