Agora/Market Manual - 51st Thessaloniki IFF-2010Crossroads ProjectsJapanese DogRomaniaProduced by: LIBRA FILMDirector: Tudor Cristian JurgiuScriptwriter: Ioan AntociProducers: Bogdan CraciunBudget: 575.000 euroSecured Financing: 59%Location: RomaniaLooking for: Co-producerSYNOPSISAn old man, widowed by the recent floods, and his son, who has been living in Japan, see each other again forthe first time in twenty years. Both their expectations run high, but they are far from surpassing reality. The brief encounter allows us to hope that the gift, which the old man receives before the parting, a JapaneseRobodog, shall change both their lives for the better.DIRECTORS’ STATEMENTThough simple in its topic, this script is running on a grave, sincere emotion, devoid of melodramatic overtones. There is a subtle tension that constantly underlies even the most banal scenes. As a director, I would try toamplify this tension with gestures that do not stand out, unexpected lines and a shooting script composed oflong takes capable of rendering more explicitly this smoldering conflict that escalates to an outburst that is, Ithink, quite necessary. This is a film about the lives we lead and the struggle to let others alter our own view ofthings.LIBRA FILMPRODUCER’S CONTACT INFORMATIONLIBRA FILM PRODUCTIONST. +40 213 266 480M. +40 733 735 909office@librafilm.netbogdan.craciun@librafilm.netwww.librafilm.netLibra Film is an independent film/TV production company founded in 1994, having a focus on producing featurefilms, shorts and documentaries. In 2004, Libra produced the award-winning documentary Great Communist Bank Robbery, by AlexandruSolomon, co-production with Les Films D’ Ici -France with support of Eurimages.
