A bigpart of the area belongs to Constantas Chrisafis (he has bought it from his Turkish Cypriot colleague Hasan Beyoglu) who hasretired there with his wife Ellou. The outbreak of a big economic crisis leads the two sons of the family to bankruptcy forcingthem to move their families to the family house. A lot of problems are caused by the cohabitation. This whole situation ismade worse when the Cyprus government keeps asking to buy the house and Constantas’ stubbornly refuses. Moreover, twoEnglish agents and Ahmet Beyoglu camp outside the house. The house is in a state of internal and external siege. TheCostantas family accidentally discovers that all this is happening because of the oil deposits and from then on things take adifferent turn.DIRECTORS’ STATEMENTA political, allegorical comedy with plenty of surrealism, social satire and magical realism. These are the types that aremixed in order to create a contemporary Aristophanic result. We want our viewers to laugh their hearts out, to dream. Wewant the dark side of power, of “big” interests, of political games, of the high level contraband to be revealed for a momentwith a smile by the light of comedy. But we also want to play on a personal level, with human flaws and passions: arrogance, greed, gluttony, jealousy, love. The driving force of love will lead to catharsis in combination with the cunningness of thesmall, the weak, and the eternally underprivileged. This is what is demanded from comedy. The viewers must leave satisfiedand happy that the small, the poor, the weak have finally been justified.AVRA PRODUCTIONSThe company Avra Productions was set up in 1999 by the producer-director Kyriacos Tofarides, with an aim to promote andproduce T.V and film productions as well as script writing for film and television, involving both fiction and documentariesthat take their ideas and inspiration from the Cyprus society of today and its characteristics.
