Amelia, a black and white 35mm short, wonthe photography prize and the Special Jury Prize at the EarlyBird Students’ Film Festival, Bulgaria. In 2009 she took partin Berlin and in Sarajevo Talent Campus, and in 2010 shewon a grant from Berlin Today Award to direct a short filmin the summer of 2010. Besides the feature film Ileana shecurrently develops a feature film in Paris, with the productioncompany Kinoelektron.Eva Pervolovici, Directorpresent at BFWRITER’S CVMonica is a Romanian screenwriter. After having graduatedthe Bucharest Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures(German & English) in 2009, she is preparing her PsychologyBachelor of Science at the Royal Holloway University of London.Monica has attended Reykjavik International Film FestivalTalent Laboratory in 2009 and Sarajevo Talent Campusin 2010. Although a couple of days have passed nobody seems to have noticed her death. Next evening,Kavin, fed up from the harassment of her step-father at home, goes to Kerime’s house. There, she finds refuge,a place she feels safe. But as the dead body starts to decompose, Kavin sees how death really looks like and getsterrified. But the terrifying scene will lead her to question the reasons that may have driven her elder sister tosuicide.DIRECTORS’ STATEMENTWhat does a child know about death? Depending on some researches and our own experience, we can say: “Notmuch”. Children have millions of other preoccupations regarding life and spend most of their time exploring thewhole physical and sensual world. They have a simple understanding of death thinking it is something that onlyhappens to old and sick people.The Last Sleepless is the story of Kavin – an 8-year-old girl and her encounter with the concept of death for thefirst time.
