Agora/Market Manual - 51st Thessaloniki IFF-2010Balkan Fund ProjectsIleanaRomaniaProduced by: STRADA FILMDirector: Eva PervoloviciScriptwriter: Monica StanProducer: Marcian LazărBudget: 650.000 euroSYNOPSISIleana is a 19-year-old child, innocent, dreamy and in love. When her boyfriend, Radu, a small-time dealer ofmarijuana, gets caught by the police, she is the only one who can help him. The 16th article of the Penal Codeallows relatives or friends of the culprit to reduce his sentence by submitting information which will lead tosomeone else’s arrest. However, as she’s an outsider to the drug world, that’s not something she can achieve byherself. She seeks help from Rama, a heroin-addict who lives in the ghetto. She goes on a journey to the otherside, to a world different from the one she knows and becomes part of it in order to achieve her goal. At the endshe will face a dilemma. Will she still save Radu by sacrificing Rama, or will she stay with Rama and leave Raduin prison?DIRECTORS’ STATEMENTThere are stories that you seek and stories that come to you, that follow you for years. This is the case of Ileana,a script based on real facts. Ileana is a sort of Orpheus: she must descend to the Underworld to save the one sheloves. It is a long and hard journey that cannot leave her unscathed, that alters her view of the world and oflove. It’s a process of sacrifice - of the self and of the other - in which the initial purpose is lost or becomesambiguous. At the end, the innocent and dreamy child is transformed and has to decide not only between thelove of two men, but also between their destinies: who will go to prison and who will get away. Thus, in theend, the spectator could wonder: “How far would I go for the one I love?”STRADA FILMPRODUCER’S CONTACT INFORMATIONSTRADA FILMT. +40 21411808099M. +40 724041627contact@stradafilm.romarcian.lazar@stradafilm.rowww.stradafilm.roStrada Film was founded in 2004, having the Traffic directed by Catalin Mitulescu as its first production(Palm d’ Or for short film at Cannes).
