Agora/Market Manual - 51st Thessaloniki IFF-2010Balkan Fund ProjectsHappy BirthdayCyprus / GermanyProduced by:TWENTY TWENTY VISION & LYCHNARIDirector: Christos GeorgiouScriptwriter: Christos GeorgiouCo-Producers:Thanassis Karathanos & Christos GeorgiouBudget: 1.180.000 euroSYNOPSISWhen George rushes out of the police van and finds his daughter Lena among the demonstrators facing him, hedecides to take her to the country house, away from the riots and the city. He means to protect her but insteadthey end up confronting each other.DIRECTORS’ STATEMENTThis is a film about the relationship of a father and his daughter seen at the moment when the daughter, bygrowing up, is shifting the balance of the relationship. This is often not such a smooth transition and especiallynot in this case.Riots in cities are something, which unfortunately, many of us are getting to experience. This is a powerfulbackground for any story but for me the strength of the film is the two human lives at the heart of the situation, and most powerful moments are the ones where ordinary life becomes extraordinary, such as a birthday cake ina police cage or a driving lesson that almost becomes a death trap. The humour and irony of these moments is avery important element that helps the film end with a note of hope.TWENTY TWENTY VISIONTwenty Twenty Vision is a film production company based in Berlin, Germany. The principal ThanassisKarathanos and shareholder Uta Ganschow formed the company in December 1998 as a vehicle for the productionof feature film projects aimed at the national and international markets.PRODUCER’S CONTACT INFORMATIONTWENTY TWENTY VISIONT. +49 30 6128 1750office@twentytwentyvision.euwww.twentytwentyvision.eu16
