Scout Association of Australia<strong>Queensland</strong> Branch<strong>Sir</strong> <strong>Leslie</strong> <strong>Wilson</strong> <strong>District</strong>troops, 2 <strong>District</strong> Venturer units and one Rover Crew the district continues todeliver quality youth programs. Leadership and Training of our leaders remains apriority with the <strong>District</strong>.The quality is reflected in the increase of awards across the district. Next yeart<strong>here</strong> should be 3 Queen Scout awards given. <strong>Sir</strong> <strong>Leslie</strong> <strong>Wilson</strong> <strong>District</strong> owes itssuccess to the leadership team that so willingly give up their time to attend<strong>District</strong> Team Meetings and work together to develop the quality programs withthe help of the <strong>District</strong> leaders. (Susan Keys, Francina Tipman, Kym Griffin,Owen Richmond and the Venturer leaders.) Brendon also acknowledged theefforts of the <strong>District</strong> committee and Auditor that help the district to run smoothly.Changes across the district. Group Leader for Wahminda Park, Bill Dutton passedaway and has been succeeded by Zeke Carillo. The group has blossomed underhis leadership. Everton Park has moved to its new building in Teralba Park.Samara was commended for the effort and time she invested into making this asmooth transition and to Cr Wyndham for his support over this transition time. <strong>District</strong> Boating Committee Report was written by Owen Richmond and read byAdrian Whitfield. In summary Owen writes that all groups except Everton Parkhave canoes. Enoggera has poor storage facilities so only 2 of 8 are in survey.Samford has 6 of 8 in survey and the others fully surveyed. Canoes and PFD’sneed to be maintained by the groups and storage racks for canoes carefullyplanned.Only Grovely-Mitchelton and McDowall-Bunya have leaders qualified at L2 forcanoeing. The challenge is to get more leaders qualified across the district so as to takethe youth on this adventurous activity more often.Several <strong>Scouts</strong> attended an EWAB in January at Murrenbong and then the assessment inthe North Pine River later.The <strong>District</strong> Canoe expedition at Harry’s Hut was well attended, 29 scouts and 15 leadersparticipated in a great weekend. Scout Association of Australia<strong>Queensland</strong> Branch<strong>Sir</strong> <strong>Leslie</strong> <strong>Wilson</strong> <strong>District</strong>Everton Park report was written and read by Samara Fife. She outline to us all the processby which her Den was moved from quiet South Pine Road to busy Teralba Park and thevarious challenges this afforded them. They had been in the old Den since 1961, and thenew location is a co-operative one with the Girl Guides. They were able to save $2000 bytaking out the Guide Insurance for the building and in 2012 they will have their radiotower with State of the art systems in place. The building and Tower is funded by BCC.Group numbers remain small, between 30 and 40 youth members but are looking atimproved rates in 2012 due to the new location. One Australian Scout Medallion and oneQueen Scout Award have been achieved this year. Financially the group is in a goodposition with $10,000 in the bank. They received a new stove for the group from the BCCSuburban funding Initiative, thanks to Cr. Norm Wyndam. Samara thanks her leaders,parents and <strong>District</strong> Staff for their support throughout the year.Mc Dowall-Bunya. No Report.Samford. No Report.Wahminda Park. No Report.Grovely- Mitchelton.
