It connects directly to your PC/PLC ofchoice and manages all communications to and from the4 read heads. Read heads are configured on power up,and parameters, like multiplex mode and tag type, are setautomatically.Mixed Mode vs. Separated ModeA feature that could make you choose one interface overanother is the mode of operation. You can read and writeto all heads simultaneously. The key difference is thememory mapping in the PLC. In the Mixed Mode operation,all heads respond to the same location in PLC memory.In Separated Mode, memory is set aside for each head.Mixed Mode is great for reducing bus system overheadand Separated Mode is used for speed and programmingease.EtherNet/IPThe Ethernet interface supports EtherNet/IP right out of thebox. With implicit messaging, the data is directly mappedjust like any other I/O card. No expensive configurationsoftware is required for setup. This protocol supports multiplesimultaneous users, one PLC can control four heads orfour PLCs can each control one head. This reduces theoverall cost of the installation. The interface is protectedagainst dual head write access.PROFIBUSMany PLCs use PROFIBUS as their high-speed busconnection. Two models are available that allow quick fieldor enclosure mounting.
