LimitationsThe target group of children and youngadolescents between 10 and 14 years of agecannot speak for the attitudes of the generalpopulation regarding racism and other formsof discrimination in sport. Racist incidentsmaking the headlines in newspapers takeplace nearly exclusively at the level of professionalsport. Nevertheless, the insightsprovided by this survey of young people allowus a glimpse of the future using an age groupthat is still largely free of ideological convictionsand their various manifestations. The focus of this study was discriminationbased on race, religion, ethnicity, nationalityand gender. Other forms of discrimination –such as homophobia, or discrimination basedon disability, economic status or individualskills – were either peripheral to our studyor could not be examined using the age groupchosen.
