We have not thoroughly checked the town butbelieve this to be the only available services. The nearest clinic(clinica in Spanish) is in Ciudad Valles l 65 miles from Xilitla with,of course the Xilitla and Tlamaya roads to contend with if time isa factor. The clinic is not new or large but is well eqUipped andthere are competent doctors available in the town. Valles at the Goodyear Oxo" station onto CalleJuarez, proceed five blocks to the Hotel Condesa, turn right at thehotel onto Calle Morelos and the clinic is on the left in the middleof the block, Number 59 Calle Morelos. An English speaking interpreterlives somewhere within the block and can be sent for onrequest.In Ciudad Mante there is a large new modern clinic right onMexico 85 as you enter the south end of town.In the incident where it became necessary to rush RobertBurnett from Tlamaya to Austin, we called Austin from Ciudad Manteand arranged for a fast car and fresh competent help to come downfrom Austin and rendezvous with us at the twenty mile border checkpointinside Mexico. This worked very smoothly and would be ofspecial value in the event the original vehicle was a truck, ~particularlyslow, or small and uncomfortable. In our case it solvedpassport and car paper problems, relieved the single driver, andpermitted him to rejoin the trip at Tlamaya.81
