would be twofold; first and most important, it would lessen theamount of private auto traffic on the park roads, and second, itwould provide a means for those who come by train or bus to getaround the park. This is especially necessary in Mexico because themajority of travel d'one by Mexicans is by bus and train. The last concept which is proposed is for the government toacquire the land for the park, but to allow the ranching establishmentslocated in the desert between Sierra de Gomas and Sierra deEnmedio to continue their operations as in the past. They would beprohibited from setting up any commercial establishments, thus keepingthe ethnic character so typical of the desert ranching regionsof Mexico. With the park itself providing only facilities for campers andday visitors, there will have to be a cooperative effort among thetowns that border the park, the state and federal governments, andthe park administration to plan and finance public accomodations, such as hotels and motels in these towns. This should be closelycoordinated to insure a high quality and the retention of the presentSpanish character of the area. These facilities will provide aneconomic impact to the area, which will benefit the entire region. As was stated in the scope, this project will include the designand coordination of the facilities within the park boundaries. Uponfinal and satisfactory completion of this proposal and plan, it willbe submitted to the Mexican government in order to stimulate aninterest in the area for such a project.97
