THE PROJECT: An inspiring new home
on Main Campus for the Tyler School
of Art, relocating from Elkins Park. The
new facility will increase teaching and
creative spaces by 40 percent, provide
welcoming ground-fl oor exhibition areas
and common areas for creative dialogue,
as well as offer students and faculty
access to new technology.
TIMELINE: Groundbreaking will occur
in the spring of 2007 and the building is
scheduled to be complete in the fall of
2008 before the year’s classes begin.
PRIVATE SUPPORT: For Tyler to achieve
its full potential as a top national art
school, it needs private support. Consider

construction of this $78.5 million dollar
home for Tyler School of Art students.

THE STRUCTURE: A building of approximately
200,000 square feet, to
be located at 12th and Norris Streets,
adjacent to the Boyer College of Music
and Dance and in close proximity to the
School of Communications and Theater.
These facilities will anchor an arts
complex.
THE ARCHITECTS: Carlos Jimenez,
celebrated for his design of outstanding
arts education and exhibition spaces,
will collaborate in a joint venture with
H2L2 Architects/Planners, a Philadelphiabased
fi rm specializing in the design of
academic buildings.
