4. EXAMINATIONThe examination for SIL901 and SIL902 consists of a continuousevaluation of papers presented during the academic year, as well aswritten and/or oral examinations at the end of the year. A sub-minimumof 50% must be achieved in each separate examination paper. Anexternal examiner will be assigned to each examination.Apart from the examination, the candidate must complete a thesis oflimited scope at the completion of the study. The thesis must deal withan appropriate topic, chosen in consultation with the department.With the consent of the head of department and the dean, the thesismay be submitted at a later date on condition that the generalregulations concerning the submission of theses (cf. General RegulationA116) apply.In calculating the final pass mark for the degree, the different courseswill be accorded the following weights:SIL991 50%For the Ph.D. degree with endorsement: Child Psychology and RelatedFields:SIL901 25%SIL902 25%The degree certificate will be endorsed "Child Psychology and RelatedFields".120Postgraduate Calendar 2004 – Faculty of the Humanities
