Due to <strong>the</strong> limited number <strong>of</strong> candidates that can be admitted to <strong>the</strong>master's study in Counselling Psychology, selection takes place. Astudent will be considered for selection if he/she has already obtained<strong>the</strong> honours degree in Psychology or is enrolled for it.Applications for selection and admission must be submitted on <strong>the</strong>prescribed form. Selection takes place during <strong>the</strong> third term <strong>of</strong> each yearand <strong>the</strong> course commences in January <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following year.Interested students from o<strong>the</strong>r universities must submit <strong>the</strong>ir honourssyllabuses to <strong>the</strong> head <strong>of</strong> department for approval.Application forms and fur<strong>the</strong>r information may be obtained from <strong>the</strong>Head, Department <strong>of</strong> Psychology, UFS.REGULATIONS1. ADMISSION(a) The general regulations with respect to master's degrees applymutatis mutandis to this degree.(b) Students <strong>of</strong> this university who have not interrupted <strong>the</strong>irstudies, must apply for admission to <strong>the</strong> department headconcerned.(c) Students who interrupted <strong>the</strong>ir studies and students from o<strong>the</strong>runiversities must apply for admission directly to <strong>the</strong> Department<strong>of</strong> Academic Student Services.(d) Admission is subject to approval from <strong>the</strong> head <strong>of</strong> departmentand is granted on <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong> satisfactory academicperformance at Honours/fourth year level.2. EXAMINATIONExamination takes place at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> each academic year and may bea written and/or an oral examination.Apart from <strong>the</strong> examination, <strong>the</strong> candidate must complete an approvedinternship successfully, and submit a dissertation or one publishablearticle at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> second year <strong>of</strong> study. The dissertation orpublishable article must deal with a topic pertinent to CounsellingPsychology. The article is examined in accordance with <strong>the</strong> regulationsapplying to <strong>the</strong> examining <strong>of</strong> a dissertation (Reg.
