Due to the limited number of candidates that can be admitted to themaster's study in Counselling Psychology, selection takes place. Astudent will be considered for selection if he/she has already obtainedthe honours degree in Psychology or is enrolled for it.Applications for selection and admission must be submitted on theprescribed form. Selection takes place during the third term of each yearand the course commences in January of the following year.Interested students from other universities must submit their honourssyllabuses to the head of department for approval.Application forms and further information may be obtained from theHead, Department of Psychology, UFS.REGULATIONS1. ADMISSION(a) The general regulations with respect to master's degrees applymutatis mutandis to this degree.(b) Students of this university who have not interrupted theirstudies, must apply for admission to the department headconcerned.(c) Students who interrupted their studies and students from otheruniversities must apply for admission directly to the Departmentof Academic Student Services.(d) Admission is subject to approval from the head of departmentand is granted on the basis of satisfactory academicperformance at Honours/fourth year level.2. EXAMINATIONExamination takes place at the end of each academic year and may bea written and/or an oral examination.Apart from the examination, the candidate must complete an approvedinternship successfully, and submit a dissertation or one publishablearticle at the end of the second year of study. The dissertation orpublishable article must deal with a topic pertinent to CounsellingPsychology.
