(Clinical Psychology)Study code: 02730Your attention is drawn to <strong>the</strong> fact that <strong>the</strong> format <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> postgraduateprogramme in pr<strong>of</strong>essional training in psychology is still underdiscussion nationally and that <strong>the</strong> final compilation <strong>of</strong> this programme issubject to a joint decision by <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Board for Psychology and<strong>the</strong> Committee on Higher Education. No final exposition is currentlyavailable and students are <strong>the</strong>refore advised to read for <strong>the</strong> followingdegrees.INFORMATIONThe aim <strong>of</strong> this full-time two-year course is to train <strong>the</strong> student so thatafter <strong>the</strong> successful completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> course he/she will able to registerat <strong>the</strong> Health Pr<strong>of</strong>essions Council <strong>of</strong> South Africa (HPCSA) aspsychologists in <strong>the</strong> category Clinical Psychology.The training programme is compiled in accordance with <strong>the</strong> regulations<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> HPCSA by <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Psychology in association with <strong>the</strong>training institution where <strong>the</strong> internship takes place.Due to <strong>the</strong> limited number <strong>of</strong> candidates that can be admitted to <strong>the</strong>master's study in Clinical Psychology, selection takes place. A studentwill be considered for selection if he/she has already obtained <strong>the</strong>honours degree in Psychology or is enrolled for it.Applications for selection and admission must be submitted on <strong>the</strong>prescribed form.
