POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME FORPROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGYYour attention is drawn to the fact that the format of the postgraduateprogramme in professional training in psychology is still underdiscussion nationally and that the final compilation of this programme issubject to a joint decision by the Professional Board for Psychology andthe Committee on Higher Education. No final exposition is currentlyavailable and students are therefore advised to read for the followingdegrees.REG. B117MASTER'S PROGRAM IN PROFESSIONALPSYCHOLOGYMASTER'S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGYN.B. The M.Psych. will be offered as from 2005.Abbreviation: M.Psych.Study code: 01712Minimum period of study: ONE year full-time.Credits: A total of 160 credits are required: 40 credits for the courseworkcomponent and 120 credits for the script.The topics covered in the course-work component of 40 credits will takethe learners' needs and departmental capacity into account. The scriptcomponent of 120 credits requires the submission of a script on anapproved topic. For guidelines on the latter, please see the PsychologyDepartment's policy on research.ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSTo be admitted to the M.Psych. a learner should be in the possession ofa: B.Psych. or equivalent qualification103Postgraduate Calendar 2004 – Faculty of the Humanities
Admission is also subject to approval by the departmentalhead/programme director and depends among others on a satisfactoryacademic performance at undergraduate level.
