In some cases the pre-defined margin on the abutment will be too far below the softtissue to allow easy seating of the crown and removal of excess cement from the sulcus. In these instances the abutment mustbe modified so that the margin is 0.5mm to 1mm subgingival in the esthetic zone and at the level of the gingiva in non-estheticareas.
