The ReciprocatingMovementR25by VDWReciprocationRECIPROC ® – Root canal preparation with aninnovative twist!The RECIPROC ® instrument alternates betweenclockwise and counterclockwise rotation. Due tothe fact that the rotation in the cutting directionis larger than the reverse rotation, the instrumentadvances towards the apex. The reciprocatingmovement relieves stress on the instrument and,therefore, reduces the risk of cyclic fatigue causedby tension and compression (De-Deus et al. 2010;Varela-Patiño et al. 2010). At the same time, reciprocationensures that the instrument stays centredin the canal.The reciprocating movement allows root canalsto be prepared with one single instrument.
