I underst<strong>and</strong> that interim qualifications may be granted after successfulcompletion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> equivalent <strong>of</strong> each level. Do <strong>the</strong>se get issued automaticallyor would I need to apply for <strong>the</strong>se each time? Is <strong>the</strong>re a cost associated?Yes that is correct – depending on how many credits you have gained, you may exit<strong>the</strong> programme, without gaining <strong>the</strong> full honours degree. These interim qualificationsare not issued automatically although UH Online will contact you to advise whe<strong>the</strong>renough credits have been obtained for an award. You only receive one certificate<strong>and</strong> that is for <strong>the</strong> highest level at which you exit <strong>the</strong> programme. There is no costassociated with this however <strong>the</strong>re may be a charge for any additional copies.19. What are <strong>the</strong> minimum system requirements to study an online degree?All <strong>the</strong> system requirements can be found on our website -http://www.herts.ac.uk/more/uh-online-distance-learning/frequently-asked<strong>questions</strong>/system-requirements.cfm20. Do <strong>the</strong> modules that are named <strong>the</strong> same in Computer Science <strong>and</strong> InformationTechnology cover <strong>the</strong> same information?Yes – The modules that cross over from <strong>the</strong> two courses will be <strong>the</strong> exact samemodule for both Computer Science <strong>and</strong> Information Technology <strong>student</strong>s.21. With <strong>the</strong> online BSc <strong>and</strong> MSc can I <strong>the</strong>n study a PhD at any university <strong>of</strong> mychoice for <strong>the</strong> same course?Once you have gained both a BSc <strong>and</strong> MSc, you should <strong>the</strong>n be eligible to study <strong>the</strong>same course at PhD level. However, as with all universities <strong>the</strong>y will have differententry requirements that will need to be met when applying.22. Would it be possible to transfer to <strong>the</strong> university to attend in a traditionalfashion after completing for example <strong>the</strong> first 1 or 2 years <strong>of</strong> studies?If you wanted to move onto studying <strong>the</strong> on campus degree program you would haveto re-apply for entry into <strong>the</strong> next year. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t simply be able totransfer between <strong>the</strong> two.

Can <strong>the</strong> level 6 BSc Computer Science (online) be taken in one year?Yes – The level 6 BSc Computer Science (online) can be studied full time, meaning itcan be completed in one academic year.24. Would we be able to gain access to study material for all modules from <strong>the</strong>date <strong>of</strong> enrolment in order study ahead if time allows?You can study ahead in <strong>the</strong> modules you are registered on although it is not possibleto take <strong>the</strong> assessments early. You are not able to study additional modules in asemester however it is possible to view a module directory on StudyNet whichprovides you with limited ‘read only’ access. This should give you a good idea <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>topics that will be covered although <strong>the</strong> materials are likely to have been updated by<strong>the</strong> time you register fully. S<strong>of</strong>tware <strong>and</strong> e-books are only provided to <strong>student</strong>s whohave paid <strong>and</strong> enrolled on <strong>the</strong> module.25. How are tests <strong>and</strong> exams hosted?All tests <strong>and</strong> exams will be online, mainly through Studynet <strong>and</strong> assessmentplatforms such as Question Mark Perception.26. How many years will it take to complete <strong>the</strong> BSc Computer Science (online)?It will take between 5-6 years to complete <strong>the</strong> BSc Computer Science (online)program. Level’s 4 <strong>and</strong> 5 are currently only <strong>of</strong>fered as part time study, so it wouldtake two years <strong>of</strong> study for each level (four years in total). Whereas, Level 6 can bestudied both part time <strong>and</strong> full time so can be completed in one year (full time) or twoyears (part time).27. If I am going to take <strong>the</strong> IELTS exam soon, can I send in my application now<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>n send my IELTS result after?Yes you can complete an application excluding <strong>the</strong> IELTS. If you meet all <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rentry requirements, you would be given a Conditional <strong>of</strong>fer. This is where you havebeen <strong>of</strong>fered a place, providing you show evidence <strong>of</strong> English Language at <strong>the</strong>correct level. If you <strong>the</strong>n achieve an IELTS at <strong>the</strong> required level you will be given anUnconditional <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>and</strong> can register onto <strong>the</strong> program.28. I have been working full time as a s<strong>of</strong>tware developer for <strong>the</strong> past 13ish years,could work references replace academic references, which would be 14 yearsold at this point
