How have your ideas helped finalise the Reservoir Structure Plan?A draft copy of the Reservoir Structure Plan was on public exhibition from 19 June – 13 July 2012. Council receivedconsidered and insightful feedback which demonstrated an in depth understanding about the critical elements of the draftPlan. People indicated that, while they didn’t necessarily agree with all the details of the draft Plan, the work realized theiraspirations and expectations overall.Feedback indicating improvements / further information requirements resulted in the following changes to finalisethe Reservoir Structure Plan:• Diagrams which indicate how residential amenity will be protected from the future development of the Ralph Street andBernard Street car parks• The inclusion of the properties between the Reservoir Police Station and Ashley Street in Precinct 2 – ReservoirVillage• The requirement for technical analysis of the proposed transport changes/ impacts to ensure the protection of theexisting amenity and streetscapes• Diagram which indicates how critical elements of the Plan can be achieved without rail grade separationCritical elements relating to future development and activities were broadly agreed on with community members andGovernment during earlier stages of the project. As a consequence, Council officers did not have permission to changethese critical elements in response to isolated comments received during the public exhibition and therefore, some of yourcomments may not have resulted in changes to finalise the Reservoir Structure Plan.How will the Reservoir Structure Plan be used and implemented?A number of Reservoir Structure Plan projects are underway including:• Reservoir Rail Grade Separation Study – a priority project to build support for the undergrounding of the rail line atReservoir Junction in the long term• Truth North – a visual arts and events program for Reservoir• Reservoir Library redevelopment - at the Reservoir Civic Centre• Beautification works - at the Reservoir Train StationAn Implementation Plan is currently being developed. The Implementation Plan will set out the projects which theState Government, its agencies and Darebin City Council have committed to over the 20 year lifetime of the ReservoirStructure Plan.The Reservoir Structure Plan will be translated into draft zoning and built form requirements in mid to late 2013.
