The PCT’s role is to plan and pay for yourhospital services; all the services of Independent Contractors,i.e. GPs (local doctors), community pharmacists, dentalpractices, and opticians; and other services such as mentalhealth, sexual health and interpreting services. The PCT alsoprovides 34 different health services which together deliverover 500,000 patient appointments a year. These include footcare (podiatry), physiotherapy, District Nursing, HealthVisitors, speech and language therapy, rehabilitation, bloodtesting and nursing homes.8
