The supplementary form willbe seen by the school governors and will determinewhether the child meets criteria that the school has set. Ifyou do not complete this supplementary information yourapplication cannot be looked at.Community schools and voluntary-aided schoolsCommunity schools are schools financed by public moneyand maintained by <strong>Westminster</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>Council</strong> which setsadmission requirements.Voluntary-aided schools are set up by a religious orvoluntary body, but funded through the <strong>Council</strong>. Governorshave additional responsibilities than those at communityschools which include setting the admission requirementsand deciding which children to admit.Children with special educational needs (SEN)If your child has a statement of special educational needsyou should not complete the Common Application Formbut instead contact the <strong>Westminster</strong> Special EducationalNeeds Team on: 020 7641 5351 or 020 7641 5353.Housing and Education Liaison ServiceHousing Options Service, 101 Orchardson <strong>Street</strong>, NW88EA. Contact: Thomas Howard, Housing and EducationLiaison Officer, 020 7641 1000.If your family is homeless and in temporaryaccommodation offered by the <strong>Council</strong> and your childneeds a school place, you can obtain assistance from theHousing and Education Liaison Officer based at theHousing Options Service. The Education Liaison Officerwill monitor your child’s absence from school and worktogether with the Education Department to find yourchild a school place as quickly as possible. This serviceprovided in unison with the Education Department is asuccessful and established practice, so do not hesitate touse it.33
