Amit.Sheth is an educator, researcher and entrepreneur. He joined <strong>the</strong> University<br />
<strong>of</strong> Georgia, USA, and started <strong>the</strong> LSDIS Lab in 1994. Earlier, he served in R&D<br />
groups at Bellcore (now Telcordia Technologies), Unisys, and Honeywell. In August<br />
1999, Sheth founded Taalee, Inc., a VC funded enterprise s<strong>of</strong>tware and Internet<br />
infrastructure startup based on <strong>the</strong> technology developed at <strong>the</strong> LSDIS lab. He<br />
managed Taalee as its CEO until June 2001. Following Taalee’s acquisition/merger,<br />
he served as CTO and co-founder <strong>of</strong> Semagix, Inc. (formerly Voquette, Inc). His<br />
research has led to several commercial products and applications. He has published<br />
more than 175 papers and articles (in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> semantic interoperability, federated<br />
databases, workflow management, <strong>Semantic</strong> <strong>Web</strong>), given over 130 invited talks and<br />
colloquia including 19 keynotes, (co-)organized/chaired 12 conferences/workshops,<br />
and served on over 90 program committees. He is <strong>the</strong> co-editor-in-chief <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> International<br />
Journal on <strong>Semantic</strong> <strong>Web</strong> and <strong>Information</strong> <strong>Systems</strong>, is on five journal<br />
editorial boards, is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> W3C Advisory Committee <strong>the</strong> <strong>Semantic</strong> <strong>Web</strong><br />

Thomas.Aden is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Healthcare <strong>Information</strong> and Communication<br />
<strong>Systems</strong> R&D division at <strong>the</strong> OFFIS Research Institute in Oldenburg, Germany. He<br />
is a graduate <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Carl von Ossietzky University <strong>of</strong> Oldenburg where he received<br />
his MS in computer science (2001). His research topics in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> medical<br />
informatics include data warehousing and data quality applications, in particular<br />
in <strong>the</strong> context <strong>of</strong> epidemiological cancer registration, as well as application <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Semantic</strong> <strong>Web</strong> in health care.<br />
Anthony.Aristar received his PhD in linguistics from <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Texas<br />
(1984). He was a researcher at Microelectronics & Computer Technology Corporation,<br />
1984-1989; an assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor, University <strong>of</strong> Australia, 1990-1991; an<br />
assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor, Texas A&M University, 1991-1995; and an associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor,<br />
Texas A&M University, 1996-1998. He joined <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> English at Wayne<br />
<strong>State</strong> University, USA, in 1998 where he is currently an associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor. Dr.<br />
Aristar is chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> OLAC working group on language codes; moderator<br />
and founder <strong>of</strong> LINGUIST List; and organizer <strong>of</strong> several endangered languages<br />
related workshops.<br />
Liviu.Badea.is a senior researcher and heads <strong>the</strong> artificial intelligence lab within<br />
<strong>the</strong> National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics, Romania. His<br />
main areas <strong>of</strong> research include: knowledge representation and reasoning, intelligent<br />
information integration, <strong>Semantic</strong> <strong>Web</strong>, bioinformatics, and machine learning.<br />
