So far I have been to Point Loma twice and Vistaonce for wood. Myoporum and carob have been added to our wood collection at Bent Street. Both types ofwood turn well and are available to you.As you probably know wood is on sale and available to you the hour before our meetings and a half hour followingour meetings. At $.25/lb you can’t go wrong.A special thank you to Roy Ulrich and Mike Ross. Roy and Mike helped to bring in a couple of loads ofwood, seal the wood, and organize wood in the trailer. We actually have quite a bit of wood available for you.If you want to get involved from time to time with cutting, hauling, and/or organizing the wood we have onsite please give me a call, Dan: 619-403-0377. In January, I will be circulating a sign up sheet at our monthlymeeting.Also, as members of the San Diego Wood Turners you might come across an opportunity for us to add to ourwood inventory. If you hear of anyone needing to move wood off their property give me a call. Sally Aultgave me such a call a couple of weeks ago and we now have nearly two truck loads of wood. Thank youSally! We do need to be a little selective so that we continue to offer club members a variety of wood.You might wonder about our guidelines to acquiring wood.“Access” to the wood is important, also we do not chip or haul away branches,etc.)“Wood” needs to be fallen and of manageable dimensions so that 2-4 individuals might cut, move,load, and haul the wood away“Property lines and power lines” are respected“Safety” is paramount and every effort is made to keep our volunteers safe“Building relationships” and having a good time with other turners is importantIf you have any one gallon orange juice or other such containersplease rinse them out and bring them to the meeting. I will beordering material to seal the wood. Some of this sealant will bemade available for purchase to club members.
