Nationally Contracted Walk-In ClinicsThis section contains a list of all nationally contracted walk-in clinics.Each nationally contracted walk-in clinic is staffed with nurse practitionersand/or physician's assistants as well as a physician on call during all hours ofoperation. Walk-in clinics are designed to treat ailments such as strep throat,pink eye, and seasonal allergies as well as offer a limited list of vaccines suchas tetanus, hepatitis and pneumonia. Walk-in clinics are not designed to be analternative for primary care providers. Walk-in clinics offer a quick alternativefor common ailments with no appointment necessary.Occasionally, a patient shows symptoms that are not within the walk-in clinic'streatment guidelines. In that case, nurse practitioners and physician assistantsare qualified to screen and refer patients to the appropriate health care providerat no charge to the member.The specialist co-pay will apply for all visits to nationally contracted walk-inclinic locations. Members who access care at walk-in clinic sites do not requirea referral from their primary care physician.www.aetna.com
